Children Singing Peace Around the World (CSPAW)

Children Singing Peace Around the World is a living prayer to heal the Earth sung with heartfelt commitment by youth and elders around the globe.  Originally composed on Mt. Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii, its message of Peace and Aloha radiates worldwide through CSPAW programs, recordings and sharing heart to heart.

In January, 2004 the 4th, 5th and 6th grade classes of Christ the King Girls School in Dublin joined their hearts, creativity and voices together with their teachers and Dawn resulting in a beautiful Irish recording of Children Singing Peace Around the World.
The girls made three colorful murals  portraying the theme that then served as set design for their video recording featuring their version of the song and the accompanying dance they choreographed. The girls received admiring applause from children in the lower grades for their wonderful performance of Children Singing Peace at the conclusion of our time together.  They planned to share their creations with the nearby church congregation and the boys' school soon after Dawn's departure... and then?

 Rainbows, doves and dolphins...universal messengers of peace (siochan)!  May we listen to our children and live in harmony.

 
Since 2000 the students and teachers at Christ the King Girls School have created a beautiful garden that has transformed their inner city school to an environmental sanctuary encouraging connection with nature.  I was privileged to experience a student guided tour of their oasis and was delighted to see a peace bench, dedicated in 2000, a dreamcatcher, given by a prior visitor  and the girls' footprints and names cast in the earth (pictured above).  The girls included their recycling and compost  areas in my tour, proud that their school is a green school.
Beautiful painted flowers brighten the hallways and reflect the beauty of the girls' hearts.....and in the winter time, they bring a bit of sunshine indoors!
   Many creative thank you's were shared expressing heartfelt appreciation for all we'd experienced together.
Mahalo to all the girls, their teachers and to Principal Annemarie Hogan for this creative opportunity to share our hearts, our ideas and to sing and dance this message of Peace together.   The joy expressed in the Irish version adds their special chord to the overall symphony of "Children Singing Peace".  Thank you for participating, contributing and continuing to sing your hearts to the world.......!
