Rainbow Camp

February, 2005

Packing up to begin another adventure.  Leaving Ban Thor Phan .... destination Rainbow Camp held at a National Park several hours drive away.  Thai residents from BTP, the Japanese visitors and those from America piled into trucks eager to get on our way  and to join many more youth and adults coming to the camp.  Mahalo to Mickey (top left) for her translation assistance throughout this journey!  Kazoo-san joyfully sends us on our way.  Rainbow camp is one of his "dreams coming true"!
Some of us took the water route in small boats taking in the coastal vistas.  Above and to the right are typical dwellings seen along the water's edge.
Enjoying the natural beauty and setting up camp!
Opening of Rainbow Camp.  Girls posing in heart made of peace cranes from Japan with Nart's titanium bowls, the Children's Peace Bowl and the Plenum 000 Artwork celebrating this opening.
There were many activities for all of us to enjoy during this three day camp.  Each morning we gathered to check in.  We would share what activity we might like to offer and we'd share about what activities we wanted to participate in.  In this way, the camp ran smoothly and we all were involved in activities we enjoyed.  Dawn's camera was acting up during this time giving her an opportunity to relax and enjoy without it.  Though much of the camp experience is not shown here, these photos give a birdseye view of our time together.  One day we took a hike up the mountain to a beautiful waterfall and swimming pool....some of us didn't make it to the top but many did!

Above, Sumanthaa Sophathanarot, Director of Barn Suan Dek, KanchanaburiThailand  serenades us with tender original music and other Thai songs as the talent show night begins.

Below:  Closing ceremonies and goodbyes.
We are Global Ohana!  Aloha and Mahalo!
